OUR STORY

Most of you probably already know the story of how Ross & Laura met but just in case you missed it, here it is.

It was February 2019. Laura was in the process of selling her home and in need of a plumber. Having been recommended a plumber by Anna (Laura’s best friend and the beautiful Maid of Honour) and seeing his WhatsApp profile picture, she wasted no time in contacting him. The day they met, they instantly clicked. Conversation flowed and they found they had lots in common. Having never been the one to make the first move before and with a little (ok, a lot of) encouragement from her best friend, after a few days, Laura bit the bullet and messaged Ross asking if he’d like to go for a drink some time. Much to her relief, Ross replied in a matter of minutes and as they say, the rest is history!

Having been Anna’s and her wider family’s plumber for years, Ross felt there was a lot on the line if Laura turned him down by making the first move. Laura on the other hand didn’t have anything to lose so was happy to take that leap, and they are both very glad she did. As The Hollies once said “Just one look, that’s all it took” 🎶

Fast forward to November 2020, Ross got down on one knee and in September 2021 they welcomed their beautiful baby boy Blake into the world. Now all that’s left is for them all to share the same last name 🤍

Travel

Getting in

Barcelona's international El Prat de Llobregat airport is only 8 miles (13km) southwest of the city centre. The airport is less than an hour away from the wedding venue.

The Aerobus service is an express bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city centre. This service normally runs every 5-10 minutes within its hours of operation. You can catch the Aerobus from outside both Terminal 1 and 2. Alternatively, the Orange L9 Sud metro line connects the airport to the city centre, passing from both terminal buildings.

Please note that from 2025 (launch date TBC), the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will require all visitors travelling to Spain from non-EU countries to apply for a visa waiver. The cost of an ETIAS is around £6. Those under 18 or over 70 will still need a visa waiver but will not have to pay the fee. Once granted, it allows visitors to visit any of the 27 Schengen countries. Applying is quick and easy - it only takes a few minutes to fill out the online application form and the pass will be valid for 3 years or until your passport expires.

Getting around & travelling to/from the venue

Getting around Barcelona couldn’t be easier. Barcelona has excellent transport links, making it really easy to explore the city. It is also located on the coast (it has 4.2 km of golden sandy beaches only 10 minutes from the city centre) so you get the best of both worlds. Lloret del Mar, another popular beach holiday destination, is only a hour way so you will be spoilt for choice and what a great excuse to turn it into a little summer getaway!

For full details on the various public transport options, please visit www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/airport/barcelona-airport-transport.html

If however, you’d like to have total freedom to explore beyond the city, why not hire a car from the airport (we will be doing this again).

Please note part of Barcelona has car restrictions so if you only intend on exploring the city and local beaches, we would advise you to just use the metro which is cheap and super easy.

As the transport links within the city are so easy and readily available, if you decide to hire a car, you’ll probably be best to leave the car at the hotel when venturing into the city and making use of the public transport.
